Memorial Day Service @ Elmwood Cemetery

This Memorial Celebration Service honors Veterans from all wars and military service and specifically recognizes those who are buried in Elmwood Cemetary.

At the Pittenger War Monument, located at the center of Elmwood Cemetery, join this ceremony of remembrance for all veterans.  This service includes Posting of Colors, Placing of the Wreaths, prayer, music, speakers, Three Volley Salute, and recognition of Veterans.

Juneteenth @ Laura Leake Park

“Juneteenth” in Centralia includes festivities bringing the whole family together: BINGO, Horseshow tournaments, games, and other fun family activities.  Complimentary food and beverages will be provided, specialty sandwiches will be available for purchase.  The program starts at 11:30 a.m. with the cookout starting at 12 p.m.

Picnic cookout includes hot dogs, polish sausage, chips, and drink provided by the Centralia Parks Advisory Committee.

Bring your lawn chair or blanket so you can spend the time and relax.

Festivities are at Laura Leake City Park, located on the corner of Howard and North Maple Streets.

4th of July Veteran’s Parade @ On Broadway starting at the RR Tracks and travels west ending at Fairview Park

4th of July Veteran’s parade is a celebration of the Declaration of Independence and the birth of the United States of America as an independent nation.  This 10 am parade consists of vehicles and pedestrian traffic and includes veterans, service members, families of service members, veteran military support organizations and/or individuals wishing to display their support.

This patriotic parade begins at West Broadway and South Chestnut Streets and heads west on Broadway, ending at Fairview Park.  Follow the end of the parade and you will be at Fairview Park, this is about 0.74 miles.  Enjoy an awards ceremony, recognition and celebration activities in the Park.  Festivities at Fairview Park include a three-day carnival, food vendors, and a fireworks display later that day at dusk.

This is an all-day event packed with special activities for the whole family. The Fall Festival is held during the day with a children’s parade, chili cook-off, Miss & Mister Pumpkin Contest, mini train rides, best-dressed pet contest, craft fair, games for the kids, food, and a car show.

An evening parade is an event in itself. It is older than the Macy’s parade and features floats, marching units, horses, old fire trucks, costumed characters, school bands and more.

Come and enjoy this parade with marching bands, floats, horses, old fire trucks, costumed characters, and many more attractions!  This parade is an event in itself, it is older than the Macy’s parade; this is the 93rd annual parade.  

The parade begins at 7:00 P.M. and will follow Route 51 and Poplar Street.   This parade is known for drawing a very large crowd and is filled with many entries.  Please join us for a day filled with fun and amazing food from food vendors along the parade route.  

Early in the day, beginning at 9 am, enjoy our Fall Festival and Craft Fair.

At no charge, we are open from 5:00 p.m. to 11 p.m. each night through the end of the year.  Don’t miss Santa who will be at his cottage at select times to visit with children and adults.  This lighting display is presented by the Centralia Foundation.

Enjoy a Christmas Stroll in Downtown Centralia including an ornament hunt, horse-drawn carriage rides, store specials, train rides, an opportunity to meet with Santa, Carolers and other musical performances, Christmas music from the Carillon, hot cocoa and refreshments for purchase, and much more.

More about the ornament hunt:  participating merchants will display an ornament inside their store for shoppers to locate and have their card stamped. Cards may be found in any participating business downtown and inside the Illinois Theatre. When you find all the ornaments and your card has been stamped, returned to Illinois Theatre for a drawing at 7:15 pm. Meet your downtown merchants and do some holiday shopping at the same time!
