Presented by the Centralia Foundation, Fantasy of Lights is a holiday tradition you won’t want to miss. Take a drive through Foundation Park to experience twinkling candy canes, golfing Santa, or Rudolf catching some rays. Don’t forget to visit 600 N Pleasant for more Christmas displays and the challenge of finding “Wanda”! Open from 5:00 p.m. to 11 p.m. each night at no charge. Don’t miss Santa who will be at his cottage on Friday’s and Saturdays from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.. For even more fun, make plans to ride the “Little Obie” train through the park on certain evenings during the month of December.
Enjoy a Christmas Shopping Stroll in Downtown Centralia on November 30th from 3pm-7:15pm. Participating merchants will display an ornament inside their store for shoppers to locate and have their card stamped. Cards may be found in any participating business downtown and inside the Illinois Theatre. When you find all the ornaments needed your card should be returned to Illinois Theatre for a drawing at 7:15pm. Other activities include horse drawn carriage rides, store specials, an opportunity to meet with Santa, Carolers and other musical performances, Christmas music from the Carillon, hot cocoa and Girl Scout treats, chestnuts roasting on an open fire, refreshments and much more to come. The Centralia Holiday Basketball Tournament, first held in 1942, is a three day tournament held between Christmas and New Years featuring teams throughout the nation and attracting over 6,000 spectators each year.
